Privacy Policy

We collect the minimum data required to run a news site, understand what readers actually read, and (eventually) deliver a newsletter that is worth opening. This page explains what we collect, why, and what you can do about it.

Last updated: 14 July 2026

1. Who we are

The Daily Tilt ("we", "us", or "our") operates dailytilt.news, a publication covering the crypto gambling industry. We are the data controller for personal information processed through this website.

For privacy-related enquiries, contact us at desk@dailytilt.news.

2. What data we collect

Depending on how you use the site, we may collect:

  • Newsletter sign-up: your email address when you subscribe to our mailing list.
  • Analytics data: pages visited, links clicked, device and browser type, approximate location (derived from IP address), referrer URL, and similar usage information collected via PostHog.
  • Theme preference: whether you have selected light or dark mode, stored in a cookie and in your browser's local storage.
  • Technical data: IP address, user agent, and server logs generated when you access the site (via our hosting provider).
  • Communications: any information you send us voluntarily by email (for example, tips or general enquiries).

We do not intentionally collect special category data (such as health information) or payment card details through this website.

3. How we use your data

We use personal data to:

  • Deliver and improve our editorial content and guides.
  • Send newsletters you have signed up for (when our mailing service is active).
  • Understand site usage, measure engagement, and fix technical issues (via PostHog analytics).
  • Remember your display preferences (theme).
  • Respond to enquiries and tips you send us.
  • Comply with legal obligations and protect our rights.

4. Legal bases for processing

Depending on where you are and the privacy laws that apply to you, we rely on one or more of the following legal bases when processing personal data:

  • Consent: for non-essential analytics cookies (richer PostHog tracking), and for sending marketing emails when you subscribe to the newsletter.
  • Legitimate interests: to operate and secure the website, measure aggregate readership with cookieless analytics, and improve our content, balanced against your privacy rights.
  • Contract: where processing is necessary to provide a service you have requested (for example, delivering a newsletter you signed up for).
  • Legal obligation: where we must retain or disclose data to comply with applicable law.

5. Cookies and similar technologies

Cookies are small text files stored on your device. We also use similar technologies such as local storage. This section is our Cookie Policy.

5.1 Strictly necessary

These are required for the site to function. In many jurisdictions they are treated as strictly necessary and do not require consent before use.

Name / typePurposeDuration
theme (cookie)Stores your light or dark mode preferenceUp to 1 year
theme (local storage)Backup storage for display preferenceUntil cleared in your browser
cookie_consent (cookie)Stores your analytics cookie preferenceUp to 1 year

5.2 Analytics

We use PostHog (PostHog Inc., hosted in the EU) to measure how the site is used. By default we use cookieless analytics: PostHog counts visits with a privacy-preserving server-side hash and does not store PostHog cookies or local storage identifiers until you accept analytics cookies. If you accept, PostHog may set cookies and store identifiers in local storage (typically prefixed with ph_) for richer usage analytics.

ProviderPurposeMore information

5.3 Third-party and affiliate cookies

When you click links to external sites (including casino operators, affiliate partners, or social media), those third parties may set their own cookies. We do not control those cookies. Review the relevant operator's privacy and cookie policies before providing any personal information.

5.4 Managing cookies

When you first visit the site, a banner lets you accept or reject analytics cookies. Rejecting (or ignoring the banner) keeps analytics in cookieless mode. Accepting enables PostHog cookies for richer analytics. You can change your choice at any time using the Cookie settings link in the footer.

Most browsers let you refuse or delete cookies. Blocking strictly necessary cookies may affect site functionality (for example, your theme preference may not persist). For guidance, visit aboutcookies.org.

6. Third-party service providers

We use trusted providers to run the site. They process data on our behalf:

  • PostHog (EU): product analytics and error monitoring.
  • Hosting provider: website hosting and content delivery.
  • Email service provider: newsletter delivery.

We require processors to protect your data and only use it for the purposes we specify. Some providers may process data in countries other than your own; where they do, we rely on appropriate safeguards such as Standard Contractual Clauses or equivalent mechanisms where required by law.

7. How long we keep data

  • Newsletter emails: until you unsubscribe or ask us to delete them.
  • Analytics data: retained according to our PostHog project settings, typically up to 12 months unless a longer period is required for analysis.
  • Theme cookies: up to 1 year, or until you clear them.
  • Correspondence: as long as needed to handle your enquiry and for a reasonable period thereafter.

8. Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights over your personal data. These can include access, correction, deletion, restriction, objection, and data portability (where applicable). Where processing is based on consent, you may withdraw consent at any time without affecting the lawfulness of prior processing.

You may also have the right to lodge a complaint with a data protection or privacy regulator in your country or region.

To exercise your rights, email desk@dailytilt.news. We may need to verify your identity before responding.

9. Age restriction

This site covers gambling-related topics and is intended for adults aged 18 and over only. We do not knowingly collect personal data from anyone under that age. If you believe a minor has submitted data to us, contact desk@dailytilt.news and we will delete it promptly.

10. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. The "Last updated" date at the top of this page will change when we do. Material changes may also be noted on the site. Continued use of the website after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
